Guided Bike excursions
Coal Steam Light ( Kohle Dampf Licht) cycling tour
Between nature experience, industrial monuments and renewable energies
The region around FERROPOLIS is changing. Out of a bleak, former open mine landscape, a fascinating sea scape, the garden realm of the industrial culture (referring to the historic garden realm of “Prince Franz”) is developing – and we cycle right through the middle.
There is plenty to say about the former world biggest brow coal power station in Zschornewitz and its expensively – financed by funds of the EXPO 2000- redeveloped “Colonies”, in a similar vain to English garden cities. And there is much to see in the modeled landscape, with its fantastic views, not least on the high-dump Gröbern.
Not far from there, at the “Findlingsgarten”, we find the ideal spot to take a rest before we visit the point of discovery of the Gröbern forest elephant.
From the city balcony of Gräfenhainichen we will then enjoy again the panoramic view over Lake Gremmin and the City of Steel FERROPOLIS, where we will then return to directly, after 4 eventful hours.
Duration: about 4 h / (30km)
Price: from 9,00 € p.p.
There is also a short guided bike excursion of 2 hours and two different day tours.
